Cancer Treatment Vaccines

A vaccine treatment for cancer has been developed and administered to patients to stimulate the immune system in combating and killing malignant cells. In essence, this vaccine involves antigens that target specific antigens from a tumor or cancer-causing proteins designed to induce the immune response to cancer. Regarding category, two vaccines are commonly noted: therapeutic and preventive. While vaccines like the HPV vaccine have been effective at preventing cancer, therapeutic vaccines remain in the early stages of development. The World Vaccines R&D Conference provides a forum to advance research and collaboration in speeding up the development of vaccines that can treat cancer and, eventually, enhance global cancer care.
